Caritas Australia was founded in 1964 and has since striven to help oppressed communities within Africa, Asia, East Timor, Latin America, Indigenous Australia and the Pacific. The Charity’s aim is to help restore dignity and overcome poverty in these communities.
With the support of the Australian community, Caritas has been able to help millions of people in over 115 countries by:
- Delivering long-term development programs
- Helping people regardless of ethnicity, religion or political beliefs
- Working with the poorest of the poor
- Helping people help themselves
Caritas Australia also offers emergency response and assistance in global crises, providing water, food, provisional shelter and medical care to those in need.
Fire Safe Australia & New Zealand has been a donator to the Caritas Neighbours program for a number of years and is proud to be supporting such a great organisation.
