Fire Safe ANZ recently hosted a workshop for insurance brokers regarding fire protection systems and the related Australian Standards at the North Sydney Harbourview Hotel.
The venue was chosen for the workshop as Fire Safe ANZ provides the hotel with an essential services maintenance package for their numerous fire systems, including automatic sprinkler systems, fire hydrant systems, fire detection and emergency warning and intercommunication systems.
Four Sydney based insurance brokers participated in a theoretical and practical presentation. The theoretical session led by Fire Safe ANZ’s Paul Cunningham was a successfully interactive experience thanks to our enthusiastic participants asking questions at the end of each section. The nature of each questions varied from the method of practical testing to implementation of the related Australian StandardsThe idea for a workshop was developed when Greg Wakeham, the Director at TPRM Risk Management, approached our business regarding sprinkler system testing for his own professional development.
After the theoretical module ended, Fire Safe ANZ’s Electrical Supervisor, Steve Cooper and Sprinkler Fitter, Brian Massey presented practical sessions on testing the building’s various detection, warning and sprinkler systems.
“The training was very informative, and allowed the normally office-based brokers to increase their practical knowledge in relation to fire protection systems, which in turn will assist them to be able to better explain the adequacy of installed fire equipment when marketing risks to underwriters.
